- Look at the chart above. These are the most common attitudes that manifest in our hearts on a daily basis (Negative and positive).
- Pray asking God to reveal the attitudes in your heart from the previous day.
- Scroll down and fill in the form as honestly as possible. Click on Note Title and type "Rebellious" (This should be the attitude revealed during your quiet time)
- Start by giving God thanks for things you are grateful for. (Example: Your health, your spouse, your children, ect. We need to learn to be grateful. Our focus is usually on all the things we don't have rather than all the things we neglect on a daily basis.
- Reflect on yesterday and write down any incidents that come to mind that describe a specific attitude. (Example: If your boss told you to do something you really struggled with doing and you ignored or disobeyed, then you want to select "Rebellious", a negative attitude. However, if your boss told you to do something you really struggled with doing and you obeyed with a good attitude, then you want to select "Submissive".
- Reflect on the incident. Focus on your attitude, body language, words you may have said, facial expressions ect. that may have provoked the other person to react the way they did. Note: We need to learn to take responsibility for our own actions. We are not responsible for others. If our actions change, this will produce a change in the way that others respond to us as well.
- Ask questions. Lord, where does this come from? Allow God to bring insight as to why we have these attitudes. Learning to hear God speak to you may take a some time but be consistent. Soon you will learn to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit speaking to you in your quiet time. Many of these attitudes are the result of pain we experienced in the past. God will start to help you through the healing process as you spend more time in his presence.
- Write down any insight you may have heard. It is important to pray about these things once revealed to allow God to remove these from our hearts and bring about healing. (Example: If God brings to mind a person that hurt you in the past and there is still hatred and bitterness in your heart, than you need to come into agreement with God and make a decision to forgive. Ask him to help you.
- Close by giving God thanks for what he showed you and asking him to strengthen you and bring about change.
