DON'T CUT THE SUPPLY LINE

Whenever the Holy Spirit shows up, He brings freedom with Him. So if you are indwelt by the Spirit, yet you are all bound up, the Spirit is not having free rein in your life for some reason. See, when you do not have God's rules as the guidelines for life and you do not have God's Spirit as your source of power to live life, you will be somebody's slave. The psychological term for it maybe co-dependency or something else, but at bottom it is some form of spiritual slavery. For the Galatians, the issue of Spirit-given freedom was very real. They had people in town trying to put them back into spiritual slavery. Paul thought it was serious enough that he said if they yielded, Christ would no longer benefit them. In fact, he went on to say that if they gave up their freedom, the supply ply line of grace that gave them the ability to be all that God wanted them to be would be cut. This is serious stuff. Paul is saying that the Spirit's power to be what God has created you to be is cut off if you allow something thing else to bring you into bondage. As we said yesterday, freedom doesn't mean living without rules.

It means living under the rules of the Holy Spirit, which are liberating rather than confining. You may not be living freely, but if you are a Christian, you are free. Today's verse gives the bottom line of this matter. Freedom comes when the Holy Spirit is at work in your life. The Galatians needed to be reminded of that, and so do we. It's like having to remind yourself sometimes times that you are married. You may not feel married, but the fact is that if you stood before a preacher and exchanged vows with your mate, you are married. Now the question is, how much are you going to enjoy your relationship? If you are in bondage to anyone or anything today, it is because the Holy Spirit has not been allowed to set you free. Claim your freedom in Him and drop those chains. Think About It If somebody else is playing God in your life, you can bet your bottom dollar that God is not being God in your life.
