"The LORD was with Joseph. "

Genesis 39:21
GO DIRECTLY TO JAIL
Read It: Genesis 39:7-23
Did you ever wonder why Joseph turned out so much better than his ten older brothers? I have an idea. Joseph's daddy, Jacob, was a spiritual itual mess for a long time. But when he got older, he had a wrestling match with God and received His blessing (Genesis 32:22-29). So Jacob made a decision for God that Joseph was able to benefit from because he was still at home. I hope this is an encouragement for you if you feel like you've blown it with your kids and you think it's too late to fix those broken relationships. If you get right with God, He can help you get right with your kids, especially those who may still be at home. Jacob was now committed to God. He could not undo the past, but he could walk with God in the present and see God bless his present in spite of what had happened in his past. So he did. And he raised Joseph to be committed to a holy life.

This was evident when Joseph resisted the sexual advances of his master's ter's wife (vv. 7-9). He saw clearly that his situation could only be explained by the hand of God working in his life. So he said to Mrs. Potiphar, "How can I be in the midst of what God is doing and be unfaithful ful to Him?" Mrs. Potiphar cried rape, and Joseph was dragged away to prison. Come on. The man is living right, and he's already been through a broken ken relationship at home. Now he's got a broken relationship at work even though he has done nothing wrong. Is that right? Talk about damaged relationships. I mean, I could see some of us walking around in that jail saying, "Lord, have mercy. I try to do right and I get fired. Shucks, I should have had some fun and kept my job too. Now I have nothing but a prison term." But Joseph had a lot more than that. "The LoRD was with Joseph" (v. 21). We've heard that one before. When the Lord decides to take you somewhere and be with you there, you're going to be all right. Think About It If you are willing to go all the way with God, then even being in jail in His will is better than being at home out of His will.
