"Make yourselves ... an unfailing treasure in heaven. "

Luke 12:33
MAKING FRIENDS
Read It: Matthew 19:21; Luke 16:9; 1 Timothy 6:17-19 f there's one thing the world knows how to do, it's using money to make friends. In fact, all you have to do to acquire a whole lot of friends is get some money. Ask any celebrity, someone who is constantly surrounded by an entourage of hangers-on, fun-seekers, and other types looking for a ride on a rich and famous person's coattail. Trouble is, when the money disappears and the bright lights fade, so do the friends. In applying the parable of the unrighteous steward, Jesus tells us to use our earthly goods to make friends for ourselves. But He's not talking about doing it the world's way. Let's see what He means. One reason Jesus calls money and material possessions "unrighteous mammon" is because the world uses money primarily for unrighteous purposes. poses. Also, money has an unrighteous, all-controlling nature about it that lures people into doing all kinds of unrighteous deeds. That's why Paul told us not to love money.

Jesus is telling us to invest what we have here on earth in eternal things so that when our material possessions "fail" or run out, and they will, we will still have a solid investment in eternity. In other words, make sure you are investing in the Gospel and the work of Christ so that when you get to heaven, there will be a whole crowd of people there who are glad to see you. Who are they? People who are in heaven because you were faithful to give. People who heard the Gospel and trusted Christ because you invested your time, talents, and treasure in your church. I suspect that what will happen in heaven is that people who used their earthly goods to win people to Christ will get a gold-engraved invitation to the heavenly home of someone they helped get there. And at the party will be all of those who made it to heaven, thanks to these people's faithfulness fulness as stewards. My friend, I hope someone throws a party like that for me, because I want to take as many people to heaven with me as I can. How about you? Think About It Your faithfulness in "a very little thing" (v. 10) can actually make an eternal difference for someone. That's awesome!
