"The sons of this age are more shrewd in relation to their own kind than the sons of light. "

Luke 16:8 SHREWD MOVE
Read It: Luke 16:3-8
You have to hand it to the unrighteous steward. He may not have been a good manager, but he was excellent at conniving. He figured out an unemployment insurance plan right on the spot after his master fired him from his stewardship. Actually, you have to hand it to Jesus here, since it's His story. In just a few verses He illustrated and drove home a principle that would have taken most of us a whole book to explain. Even though he was no longer employed by his master, the steward was still using the master's property to make friends for himself. If he cut these debtors' bills, he could knock on their doors later to say, "I'm unemployed. My family is hungry. Remember when I helped you?" While the disciples were still shaking their heads at the steward's actions, Jesus delivered the punch line in verse 8. When the master found out what the steward had done, he didn't have him arrested for being dishonest. honest. He praised him for being shrewd enough to secure his future in light of his present. What Jesus is saying is that the children of this world often make the children of God, people like you and me, look bad when it comes to stewardship. ardship.

They're often more future-oriented than we are. And they know how-to protect their future through wise investments. There's a real irony when you consider that Jesus calls His children the "sons of light." It implies that the other guys are sons of darkness. In other words, we have a clear view of things as they really are because we are in the light. We have an eternal perspective. Worldly people ple don't see things as they really are because they are in darkness. They may be future-oriented, but they don't have an eternal perspective. Yet in spite of this, they make us look bad because we don't use our heavenly shrewdness to lay up heavenly investments the way they use their earthly shrewdness to lay up earthly investments. Does that sound like you? We'll see tomorrow Think About It Lots of people are busy putting something away for retirement. What are you storing up for eternity?
