Baggage
DEUTERONOMY 6:5
You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
A couple planned an elaborate summer vacation in Europe. They packed their bags for two months of fun, rest, and relaxation. When the ticket agent asked how many bags they were checking the husband said to his wife, “Dear, I wish we would have brought the piano.” Confused, she asked why they needed to bring the piano. “Because I left the tickets and itinerary on the piano,” he replied. Many of us are carrying a lot of baggage in our lives. Pain, problems, frustrations, failures… if we transport these things into our future, they can prevent us from fully living out our destinies. In your daily walk with God and the fulfillment of your purpose, consider lightening your load so you can focus on the main thing. Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 6:33, “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
When we focus on anything other than God’s kingdom and righteousness, we can become worried, insecure, and anxious. The enemy uses those distractions to get us off track from fulfilling our divine reason for being—our destiny. When we put our relationship with God on the front burner of our lives rather than the back burner, we experience God’s power and provision at a level that far exceeds what we could ever manufacture on our own. We live out the victory that is ours to enjoy. And we will reach the end of our lives knowing that we have truly fulfilled our destiny. Lord, I want to love You with all my heart, with all my soul, with all my mind, and with all my strength. Reveal to me the areas in my life where I am not doing this, and give me the wisdom to know how to change.
