Who Is Calling The Shots?

LUKE 10:19
Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you.  When God sent Moses to Egypt to deliver the Israelites from bondage, He empowered Moses to do the enormous task before him. He said, “See, I make you as God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron shall be your prophet. You shall speak all that I command you, and your brother Aaron shall speak to Pharaoh that he let the sons of Israel go out of his land” (Exodus 7:1-2). God told Moses that He was going to make him “as God to Pharaoh” even though everyone thought Pharaoh was running the show. Pharaoh appeared to be in control. He was larger than life and seemed to be calling the shots. Yet God trumps everyone, and when God sends you to do what He has created you to do, He empowers you to do just that. God didn’t make Moses become God; He made Moses “as God to Pharaoh”—meaning He gave Moses authority over the earthly king. You may face opposition as you live out your destiny. You may have a “Pharaoh” blocking your path. But if you are doing what God has created you to do, you can trust that He has empowered you with all the authority you need. Keep in mind, though, that God won’t force you to live out your purpose, just as He didn’t force Moses to confront Pharaoh. That is up to you. Moses could have walked away and said, “You know what, God, that all sounds good, but have You seen Pharaoh?

Have You checked out his army? I appreciate the vote of confidence, God… but get real!” Moses could have said all of those things and left. And as a result, we would be reading about someone else in the Scripture whom God used to set His people free. Unfortunately, many of us have given away our destiny by forfeiting our spiritual authority. Sometimes Satan doesn’t even have to fight for it. Have you ever examined your situation, seen the size of the challenge, looked at your own inadequacies… and given up? When we do that, we hand over to Satan the authority God intends for us to use. Fortunately, you can get it back. You can be fully empowered to live out your complete, God-given potential. You can reclaim your spiritual authority. Just place your faith in God and do what He asks you to do.
Dear God, I want to fully live out the spiritual authority You have given me. I pray for wisdom to know how to exercise authority in my daily life on the journey toward my destiny.
