Finishing The Race

ISAIAH 41:10
Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Derek Redmond was a British sprinter. In the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, he won his quarter-final heat of the 400. In the semi-final, he started well but tore his hamstring halfway through. Derek hobbled to a stop and then fell to the track in pain. A stretcher was brought to him, but he was determined to get up and finish the race. Derek’s father, Jim Redmond, pushed through security personnel to get to his son. Together, the father and son limped to the finish line as 65,000 spectators stood and cheered.

Something inside us cherishes those moments when people go further than they thought they could. And we wonder, “Would I have the determination to get back up and continue?” You may have had some bumps and bruises along the path to your destiny. Perhaps you tripped and fell or were knocked down by circumstances out of your control. But I want to remind you that your loving heavenly Father is standing right beside you, ready to help you along. He wants you to finish just as much as you do. And with His help, you can.
Father, thank You for being near me and offering me the help I need to complete my race to fulfill my destiny. Thank You for assisting me and giving me the strength and hope I need to serve You well.
