A Contribution Or A Sacrifice?

LUKE 9:23-24
If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it. One day, a chicken and a pig were walking down the street when they arrived at a grocery store. A sign in the window of the store read, Needed: Bacon and Eggs. The chicken and the pig looked at each other. The chicken said, “I’ll give him the eggs if you give him the bacon.” “You have to be crazy,” said the pig. “Have you lost your mind?” “What’s the problem?” asked the chicken. The pig replied, “The problem is that for you it is a contribution. But for me, it’s my life!” A lot of people today want to give God a contribution. They will give an egg here or there—or maybe a dozen from time to time. But they don’t want to climb up on the altar and die to their own wants, desires, dreams, and will so they can be maximized for God’s purpose as living sacrifices. But God doesn’t want your eggs. He wants your pork chops, ham hocks, and pigs’ feet.

He wants the whole deal. Living a life of destiny means just that—living a whole life of destiny. It does not mean living a day or an hour of it. Too many people today want to be part-time Christians but expect God to give them a full-time blessing. That mentality wouldn’t go very far on your job, and it certainly doesn’t go far with God either. Are you giving God a contribution of your time, talents, and treasures, or are you giving Him your all? You will be amazed when you surrender your all to Him—He will flood you with satisfaction and purpose. True happiness is found in being who you were created to be.

Father, I surrender my life to You. Use me at the fullest capacity possible. I give You my heart, my goals, and my dreams, and I ask that You will bring about the complete expression of the destiny You have created me to fulfill.
