Your Control Tower

2 TIMOTHY 3:16
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness.

Before airplanes take off from a large airport, the pilots need to be in communication with air traffic controllers who are seated high above in a control tower. The air traffic controllers can see what the pilots cannot. The pilots have a limited vantage point. They can’t see underneath or above them. The pilots, even with all of their instruments, can’t see the air traffic around the airport. The tower can provide the pilots information they wouldn’t have because of their limited vantage point. The Word of God is your control tower. Where you have only a limited vantage point, God’s Word can communicate to you what is going on in the spiritual realm that you can’t see. Discovering and living out your destiny on a daily basis involves ongoing time in God’s Word. God uses His Word to give wisdom and guidance, especially when it takes root and grows in your spirit.

Of course, God’s Word will never tell you whether you should take a certain job, marry a certain person, or move to a certain town. But God uses His Word to speak to you about these things in various ways. This is called God’s rhema word. The Holy Spirit applies the logos (the written Word of God) to specific areas of your life. God’s Word is a treasure trove of guidance and grace. Never view it simply as a historical book filled with God’s truth. View it as a tool God has given to you to direct your steps as you walk down this path toward your destiny.

Father, thank You for Your Word—both Your written Word and Your rhema word that the Holy Spirit communicates to my spirit to inform me, guide me, and direct me. Give me a hunger to know You and to know Your Word in a deeper way.
