Meaning In The Mundane
MATTHEW 10:31
Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.
As you are carrying out the normal routines in your life, God is setting up situations and intersections for you to walk into. He is preparing you for the destiny and future He has for you, and He is also preparing others for you. He is creating perfect scenarios for situations and people to connect at just the right time, leading you to fulfill your destiny. You may think you are in a dead-end career right now. Or perhaps you see no end to changing diapers, washing clothes, and chauffeuring your children around to their different events. Perhaps you had a dream in your heart—a passion—for quite some time, and yet you see no real connection between that dream and your current daily activities. If you feel that way, remember that God will often use intersections in life to get you to where you need to go.
An intersection is a place where things converge. When you reach an intersection while driving, cars coming from one direction converge with cars coming from another direction. They intersect. One way to discover your destiny is to watch the pieces of your life intersect in a divinely ordained way. Keep your eyes open for the intersections of life. Perhaps it’s someone you meet, a skill set you pick up, or a place you go. In the process of getting you where you need to go, God will frequently bring you to intersections where you find pieces and parts you’ll need along the way. Even if the intersection doesn’t make sense at the time, you can be confident that God has a plan in store. That’s why the mundane circumstances of your life—your daily routines—aren’t actually mundane at all. Seemingly insignificant intersections of life can carry the greatest value in the long run. God is leading you from where you are to where He wants you to be—where the divine intersection of your gifts, skills, passion, experience, and purpose merge. Even now He is preparing you for that place… and preparing that place for you.
Holy Father, life has so many parts and pieces to it—so many conversations, events, thoughts, and circumstances. Help me to make sense of what I can. And help me to trust You with the rest, knowing that You are sovereign over all. Informative Intersections Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” And the LORD opened the servant’s eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 2 KINGS 6:17 When you are seeking God, you don’t have to worry about finding your destiny. Your destiny will find you. You will discover it in the divine intersections God has planned for you. Time after time the Bible gives us illustrations of divine intersections.
•The infant Moses’s intersection with Pharaoh’s daughter on the Nile positioned him to eventually set God’s people free.
•Beautiful Abigail offered David’s army some food just in time to stop a rampage on her home. Abigail’s foolish husband later died, and she became the king’s wife. •Ruth gleaning in Boaz’s field set her up to become a matriarch in the line of Jesus Christ.
