A Gift For You
EPHESIANS 4:7
To each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.
Many Christians fail to maximize their calling simply because they are not aware of their spiritual gifts. They may be stuck trying to utilize a talent rather than seeking God for the gifts He has given to them or discovering how God wants to transform their talents into gifts. Other Christians fail to maximize their calling because they do not know that they even have a gift. But if you are a believer in Jesus Christ, you have a spiritual gift. In fact, you probably have several. God has equipped you with the necessary skills to fulfill the destiny for which You were made. God will provide everything you need to do what He calls you to do. So if you are trying to do something you cannot do, either you are not in your calling, or you are not exercising the gift God has given to you and that He intends you to use.
You can be sure God will prepare you to fulfill His purpose for you. Ephesians 4:7-8 says, “To each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore it says, ‘WHEN HE ASCENDED ON HIGH, HE LED CAPTIVE A HOST OF CAPTIVES, AND HE GAVE GIFTS TO MEN.’” In this passage, Paul affirms that “each one of us” has been given a gift. So there are no non-gifted Christians—either they are not actually Christians at all, or they don’t yet know their spiritual endowment. If you are a Christian, you have a gift. Not only do you have a gift, but that spiritual gift is uniquely tailored to your situation. Each one of us has a spiritual gift that is unique to our destiny and calling. I may have the same category of gift that you do, but it has not been given to accomplish the same purpose because each of us has a specific, personalized destiny. Your gift is yours and yours alone. If you do not know what it is, ask God to reveal it to you. If you do know, ask God to maximize its effectiveness so you can employ it to its fullest potential.
Lord, thank You for my spiritual gifts. Please continue to develop them through situations I face at work, in my home, at church… wherever. Open the doors that I need opened in order to use my gifts fully for Your glory and the fulfillment of my destiny.
