Giddyap!

JAMES 4:10
Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.

The thing I loved most about the Lone Ranger was his horse, Silver. I loved to see Silver rear up at the end of the program. He was a perfectly trained companion for the Lone Ranger. Did you know Silver wasn’t always like that? If you didn’t see the first episode of the Lone Ranger, you can’t appreciate Silver—or the Lone Ranger himself, for that matter. He started as just one of a whole group of rangers. One day his band of rangers was ambushed, and he was the “lone” survivor. The Lone Ranger was left for dead, but he alone recovered. When he began to get his strength back, he heard in a canyon below him the sound of a horse—the horse that would come to be known as Silver. He saw the horse as a way to escape from his situation.

The only problem was that the horse was a wild stallion. The whole first episode was about the Lone Ranger gaining control of Silver. Silver would throw him off; the Lone Ranger would get back on, only to be thrown off again. The Lone Ranger rode Silver until the horse got the message that he was no longer in charge. When the Lone Ranger took over the reins of Silver’s life, the horse could now do things he would never have been able to do on his own—because he was under the control of his master. God wants to ride you and me so we can do stuff we could never do on our own. When the story of your life is written about how God rode you, what will He have accomplished? What will have happened in your life because you moved when God said “giddyap” and stopped when He said “whoa”?

What will God accomplish in your life because you yielded to His purposes? Lord, I humble myself before You so You can use me according to Your purposes. I want You to control the reins of my life so I will experience the best possible outcomes in all that I do—according to Your eternal purposes and goals. Focus on the Ball Know that the LORD Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. PSALM 100:3 My wife and I have lived in the same house for more than 30 years. It’s a modest home in an older neighborhood. But one of the highlights of our location is that we are situated just a stone’s throw from a golf course. It’s a beautiful course stretching as far as the eye can see. Granted, I don’t play golf—I don’t have the time—but if I did, a walk through the.
