A Lesson From The Bowling Alley
PSALM 139:13
You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.
Sylvia has been my administrative assistant for decades, and for as far back as I can remember, she has loved to bowl. Faithful and committed to getting that ball down the lane to knock down those pins, Sylvia spends her weekends with friends bowling. I have to admit that I didn’t know much about bowling until I listened to Sylvia talk about her weekend outings. I’ve learned that a lot goes into the sport. One way to find out how serious someone is about bowling is to look at their bowling ball. Serious bowlers use custom-made balls.
These are constructed to just the right weight and grip for the particular bowler. To have a custom-made bowling ball is to increase the possibility of an effective delivery so you can hit the mark. God has constructed every member of His body in a customized way. He has uniquely crafted every one of us to hit the mark of His purpose and calling on our lives. We are not on an automated assembly line, put together with identical parts. We have been uniquely crafted for His purpose.
You are, in fact, custom-made. When God set about crafting you, He gave you all that you need to carry out the purpose He has destined for you. That includes your personality, likes and dislikes, temperament, eye color, interests, drive, intellect, and focus. God made sure you have everything you need, custom-made for the specialized calling He has for you. Don’t view your differences as disappointments. View them as the results of God’s hand preparing you for your purpose. He has a reason for making you the way you are and giving you everything you have. Now it’s up to you to seek His heart to discover that reason so you can put it all to good use.
Dear God, thank You for customizing my life for my purpose. Thank You for giving me all that I need to carry out the plan You have for me. I am excited to fully live out Your dream for me.
