The Magic Pen

2 CORINTHIANS 5: 7
We walk by faith, not by sight.

Have you ever seen a child coloring in an invisible coloring book? The pictures in these coloring books are hidden until the child uses a “magic pen”to color over the blank paper. That’s when an elaborate picture begins to appear. This is similar to what happens with your vision. Before the beginning of time, God established your purpose and your destiny. The image of what you will become and what you have been designed to do may be hidden from you right now, but it has already been established. Every line, shape, and color is already there. But you won’t get to see it or experience it until you take the “magic pen”of faith and do what God has revealed to you to do. Like a child looking at an uninteresting coloring book of blank pages, you may start coloring in faith hesitantly. Yet as you begin to see God respond to your movements by revealing more and more of His vision for you, you will be motivated to continue on in faith.

As God reveals your vision to you, your best move is to act on whatever He shows you. Take a step in the little that He has shown you, because God loves to hit a moving target. As you step out a little, He will show you much. As you step out again, He will show you even more. As you step out even more, He will show you the most you can receive. But unless you respond to the little, you will never discover the most. That’s why Paul calls it “walking by faith.”It involves doing something; it involves movement. So take up your magic pen of faith and start coloring your life. You’ll be amazed at the beautiful design that will begin to emerge.

Dear God, as I walk through this maze of life, I can’t always see what’s around the corner. I am not always assured that I will know what to expect after I take my next step. That’s why I need You to strengthen my faith in small ways so that I can learn to step out in even bigger ways. Will You give me greater faith as I exercise my faith muscles every day? Please guide me in ways that this can be done.
