About This Study

The purpose of this course is to assist you in knowing when God is speaking to you and what He is saying. My experience in walking with God has shown me that God does speak to His servants. He gives clear, personal instructions which enable you to experience fully His power, presence, and love. You will come to understand how God speaks to you by His Holy Spirit through the Bible, prayer, circumstances, and the church.

As you study this course, you will be invited to share in a small-group setting what God says to you. The format of this course is simple. The major ways in which God speaks to His people are covered in six weeks. In each week there are five lessons to be done individually. Only one lesson should be done per day. Each lesson should take 15 to 20 minutes, but when God speaks to you, you may want to continue responding to what He is saying. The purpose of this course is not that you gain more head knowledge but that you genuinely experience God speaking to you. Work on the materials as the Holy Spirit directs you. There is a Scripture memory verse each week. Let these six passages become part of your mind and heart.

If you are not experienced in Scripture memorization, the information below offers suggestions that others have found to be helpful. 1. Read the verse and think about the meaning. 2. Write the verse on note cards, one phrase per card. 3. Glance at the first phrase and say it aloud. Glance at the next phrase and say both phrases aloud. Continue this process until you have said the whole verse. 4. Try to say the verse form memory later in the day. If you cannot remember the complete verse, glance at the cards to refresh your memory. 5. Repeat the verse several times each day for a week or until you feel that the verse is firmly implanted in your mind. At the end of each week is a question often asked about that week’s subject. Prayerfully consider the answer and, if this is a question you might be asking, implement the answers in your daily walk.

Each daily lesson concludes with two questions: What did God say to you today? and What will you do as a result? Meditate on these questions and answer them honestly. They will serve as a journal during the six weeks. You will want to review them at the end of your study. At the end of each week, gather with a group that is also studying the material. Share and discuss all God said to you during the week. Accept this responsibility or enlist a leader to facilitate your discussion. The leader’s role is to help you to understand all that God is saying and to encourage you to respond to God’s Word in obedience.
